I seem to have inherited a considerable amount of Canadian coinage from my grandfather and I'm currently trying to figure out what everything is!
As there is just *so* much I'd like to sell some, and keep some for myself and my little brother. I'm in no rush and want to properly educate myself first and foremost! Does anyone have any suggestions for reading material, online preferably, so I can start somewhere solid? Or just suggestions in general?
Excited to be here and learn about coins! Thanks so much for accepting me!
to CCF. This is a good place to start. There's Canadian fora for you to explore. If you want to catalog your coins, I'd suggest Numista. It's an easy to use site and great for research. https://en.numista.com
'Dorado' & 'owatchman' have provided links to 2 helpful sites. After you've orientated yourself to what you have inherited, you may want to participate either here or on one of the connected forums from each site. Asking questions & posting good clear photos of your coins will help a lot.
Once you feel like you're getting to know Canadian coins a little better you may also want to check out a hard copy catalogue. Nothing really beats the info you'll get from one of these & they help one get a better understanding what prices to expect (once you decide what you wish to sell). You can look at one of these at your local library once they open up again too (usually in the Reference section). The other option is to buy a new one on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Canadian-C...373223497058 or check out Chapters/Indigo. When you buy online you can also pick up a slightly older version catalogue (at much reduced costs). Hope this helps & enjoy!
