Have anyone of you seen the new online auction for coins yet? I think they are modeling them selfs after ebay. I found this ad in the new issue of The numismatist. go to https://www.coinwants.com and check it out. this maybe chance to win a good coin cheap or get burned. let me know what you think about this online auction.

I saw that ad as well. I have taken a look around the site and it looks interesting. I am curious what others may think of or know about it.

I already have doubts, the first coin I clicked on, a 1859 BU IHC, and the picture was for a 1904.

Hopefully the site is better than my laziness suggests.

I just registered also, thanks for letting us know! Mostly the items are buy-it-now with inflated prices. There are a few auction style, some have reserves, some have high starting bid and a small number are low starting bid. So bargains may be hard to find.

An interesting thing is that they have a separate category for certfieds and it is broken down by grade, not coin type, so finding a certified of a particular coin under the "certified" category will be hard. There are a mixture of raw and certifieds within specific coin types.

Also, I came across at least one seller that I recognize from ebay, so maybe this is one of many sites that ebay sellers fled to.

Hi mycrob I came across one person too that is on ebay David lawrence who also has a Internet site as well. I think that things will change more and more as time goes by as far as it becomes more like ebay and they get more established and people start trusting this site. But I do have my eyes open for any bargins that may come up.

I went to the site and clicked on a 1910 Lincoln. The picture was of a 1934 Lincoln, but I have seen the same thing happen on ebay.
