Howdy everyone! I joined up hoping to find fellow Moroccan coin enthusiasts. I'm a small scale ebay seller who lives in Portland, Oregon. I've got the French guidebook for Moroccan coins and a halfway decent collection with a lot of ESSAI marked coins. But I've never had a single person to talk to about them! I also need some help identifying four possible forgeries in my collection. Looking forward to chatting with y'all!

to the Forum! I like Moroccan francs, but have just a handful that I've picked up over the years - I don't specialize in them.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good thread with possible Moroccan coin enthusiasts to start out in? Also, I'm curious if you have a place for people to help spot fakes. A few months ago, I got ripped off big time on ebay. But I knew instantly, disputed it, and got my money back. I have a feeling it's happened again, but possibly from a source that doesn't know any better. I'm hoping to have some additional sets of eyes look over some coins before I start accusing collectors of anything.

I also like Moroccan coins, but only have just a handful (7) that I've picked up over the years. Start a Thread for Moroccan coins here: World Coins and Commemoratives http://goccf.com/f/7

I don't collect coins but banknotes so wish I could be more helpful. I have visited Morocco (Chefchaouen & Tangiers in 2004) & loved both the country & its people. So, I do want to collect some of the nation's banknotes some day (just 1 of many nations I've yet to collect). But for a reference I would be checking some of the websites out there & really getting to know the minute details of each coin before I made any purchases (spent a cent). On other forums I have seen a lot of posts on super realistic forgeries (made in China). I hate trying to get refunds so I err on the side of caution (& check sellers' feedback plus cross reference all items I want to buy). One site that I heard about a lot of fake world coins is Numista. Below is their link on Moroccan coins: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/maroc-1.html

Thank you very much for the information. I also collect French Moroccan banknotes! I have a respectable collection, but certain bills get expensive fast.
I'm a relatively well informed Moroccan coin collector, even owning the French tome about the coins of Morocco. But I've never had a single person to bounce anything off, just stuck in my own little bubble.
Quick Question before I venture out into the forums - I see the size limit here is 300kb. Do you use an image hosting service to link high definition images?

Quote: Do you use an image hosting service to link high definition images? Not that I'm aware of, but when you post images there is a built in program (Free Image Optimizer) that you can use to reduce the image to a forum acceptable size. I don't have any hi-def images so I just make sure all my images are under the 300 KB limit before I post so I don't have any problems.
