Hi!
I have this coin, I think it is a Philip ll tetradrachm. From what I've read, the two cuts are test cuts to see if the metal is genuinely silver. Anyone with more experience can tell if it is real and give a price estimate? Thank you for your consideration!

There is somethings I don't lie about this coin, the delamination a how the lettering looks. At best I think this coin is a fouree and at worse not genuine.

I could be wrong, lets see what others have to say.

Thank you for your reply! Really curious to hear what others say. I will soon order a precision scale and also weigh it. Some of the details on the obverse are probably flattened due to the impact when test cutting the reverse.

The exposed metal also looks to be silver upon closer inspection and in the section, it does not resemble bronze oxide

Well, the coin is very worn, so this could explain a certain strangeness of the lettering. I have good and bad news : the good are that I can hardly imagine someone making a fake of such a poor quality ; so, my impresssion is that it is genuine. The cuts are probably tests to be sure that it is silver . Bad news are that in this condition, even though it is genuine, its value is low... 10-20 euros perhaps. The condition of the coin is very important in numismatics...
