Would be fun to have a small-ish map widget displayed near the top of the Coin Community page--a persistent widget across all page views. The widget would indicate the locations of those members who are logged on at the moment. The widget would be of world extent only, and small enough (and non-zoomable) so as not to disclose precise locations. No user names would be displayed or otherwise discernable. The widget would be fueled by ISP locational information--info already available to those who manage/host websites.

Some on-line forums and the like have imbedded map widgets and they tell an interesting/fun story of where participants are located. It's my understanding some map widgets are in the public domain--avoid those with strings attached.

Again, a small non-zoomable world map--no user names posted with the map, no precise locations.
Rest in Peace

I think the the time and cost to do something like that doesn't justify . Sounds irrelevant , how would that benefit
members who are logged in at the time .

T-BOP... The widget I'm talking about would be/is free--a few are in the public domain (free). Its a plug-in that most any web administrator would have functioning in a handful of minutes. Personally, I think it would be cool to see the world-wide, geographic spread of CCF users (those logged in). Would expect to see dozens in North America, several in greater Europe and Austral-Asia, and elsewhere.

So it would know automatically which of the 104,059 people on the site right now are members?

Of course, I'm not aware of what entity provides your web hosting service--assumption is that someone within that group/team/office would be able to imbed the plug-in widget with little fuss. If there is no hosting service support (for maintenance, managing upgrades, trouble shooting/debugging)--via contract or 'volunteers'--the point is moot. Would have been cool.
