This is not my usual jam but it's an attractive coin - I quite like the light (and seemingly original?) toning overtop of the frost. I'm curious to know where you all think it lands grade-wise?

Can you remove it from the 2x2 before you take pics?

Unfortunately I don't actually have it in hand - contemplating an offer. I realize the plastic makes a precise assignment impossible. My take is that it's mint state, likely at least 63 and maybe higher yet. But, like I say, George V is not my usual hunting grounds - I look for the pearls in the band of his crown - particularly the two to the left of centre - and if they're okay I get excited. But I realize that's not the most sophisticated view ever! Eyelid, hair, rims and lettering (mostly) appear undisturbed....

MS63
Fields are way to busy on such a small coin for a higher grade.
The larger the coin the more bag marks etc. are expected.
You are right to look at the jewels on the Ermine band of the crown, on a mintstate coin the clearer the jewels the more well struck the coin. But quality of strike is only one part of grading criteria.
On circulated coins these jewels are the first point of wear on the Metcalfe portrait.

I'm toggling between those two views. I see some very minor dings, particularly in the letterings, that take it down for me - maybe even to 62. But, in spite of the photographic issue, the lustre looks splendid and makes me think I'm looking at a 64+. Maybe I should just buy the stupid thing....
