Took a huge chance on this. Seller is an auction house that I peruse, but rarely buy anything other than NGC/PCGS coins from. They have a 10:1 ratio of raw to slabbed, and their images (IMO) suck, I usually just track them out of curiosity.

They had this, while *technically* graded, it's graded by an unknown company PGA (ie, basement or self-slabber), so in my eyes, it's a raw coin. Images were good enough that I felt I was able to make a decent assessment of the surfaces (that's typically the problem; their images are overexposed to conceal surface hairlines from harsh cleanings, etc) and overall condition.

Got it yesterday, and I'm curious as to what you guys think it'll grade at. If I ever get enough time, I hope to be sending this in to PCGS in the next week or two, and will update once the grade comes in.

First 2 images are seller's image, second set are mine;

Nice example!

There are a few cuts/digs on Daniel's face on the obverse that could have an impact, and there also appears to be a scratch above the "H" in "HALF DOLLAR." Overall, however, it appears to be a very nice mint state coin.

I would estimate no lower than MS-64 if the referenced marks are considered significant by the graders, MS-65 otherwise. My estimate presupposes that there are no surface issues that I can't detect from the images, but that could be seen with an in-hand inspection (i.e., by a grader).

It's supposed to be symbolic of Missouri being the 24th state, added at the request of the Chairman of the Missouri Centennial Exposition and State Fair.

Some say it was a marketing gimmick.

I've posted about the Missouri half dollar a few times - maybe you'll find what you are looking for in one of them. If not, please post your question and I will do my best to answer it.

Here are three photos of my MS64. I'd say yours looks at least as nice as mine, if not better. Good luck, and let us know the outcome.

Thanks, but I get no credit. The photos shown were provided by the seller.
