Are the finishes on recent (post - 2011) coins found in the US Mint's Annual Mint Sets considered to be distinct and different than finishes found on other US coins? I believe the US Mint calls the finishes "Brilliant Uncirculated."

Previously, I think it was from 2006 - 2010, the US Mint had "Satin" finishes on coins in the US Mint Annual Mint Sets.

Thank you in advance.

The finish, no, it is the same as what is made for circulation. However, the uncirculated mint set coins are given a little extra oomph. The are stuck with fresh dies using higher pressure and slower speed, which better guarantees a strong strike. They are also give extra car post-strike to avoid any damaging dents and dings.
