Greetings. I attended an online auction yesterday that had more recent Canadian proof coins from nickels to toonies from the past 30 years at low prices. I checked values on the few sites I know and they were low, compared to US proofs.

So, my question is what drives the low prices/values of Canadian proof coins? Are there that many proofs available (oversupply) and/or they are not popular (low demand)?

Certain years and varieties demanded a hefty price, though.

Thoughts or experiences appreciated.

Stay well,

Pretty much.
Proof coins from the past 30+ years were minted by the RCM in huge quantities, with a few exceptions, hence their low prices these days

Collecting approaches have changed over the years, and many of today's collectors don't pursue the proof coins like they once did. I agree that the current market reflects a greater-supply-than-demand scenario.

Very helpful responses. It seemed like that might be the case, but glad to have others' perspectives.
