Error Jefferson Nickel? Circa 198? - Coin Community Forum

Job28BC New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 03/31/2021 7:20 pm Has anyone out there come across an interesting Jefferson nickel dated 198o, with an o instead of 0? looks like the o was stamped over the original number. This is a D mint. nothing else looks out of place except this error. Or is it a "counterstamp"? Report this Post to the Staff

Job28BC New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 03/31/2021 9:47 pm Here are 3 more photos on the Jefferson 198o. definitely a number beneath the "o" that had to have been impressed with some force to make a slightly risen area on the reverse side (lighter area, near red mark). I'm thinking the damage was the last thing that happened before leaving mint? ignoring the scoring on the mint mark, date, and lettering on edge, commonly a result of a coin wrap machine.
