Merry christmas to you all, hope santa was good to you. He was to me I got my first metal detector Seben Allround Metal Detector just have to wait on it being delivered. It may not be up to somes standards but it means I will be able to get started.

Can anyone give me some advice,tips etc on how to use and how to find ;o)

The UK has some very strict laws about MD'ing which I cannot remember off the top of my head. I had a lot of luck with old farm houses. Just ask permission and agree to the distribution of wealth found before you start. 10 years ago it was also possible to detect on 'common' land. back way back when people used to graze their livestock on such land and it got a lot of traffic. If you are all unsure drop in at the local bobby shop and ask PC on duty they should be able to tell you where you can and can't play....
