Hi There,

I have this coin in question.

It seems like two different tones, so I thought it might be a lamination peel. It is an aged coin so just wondering.

@s4c, that half-moon splotch of different color is just a difference in surface toning. Either this area was exposed to a drop of a chemical which partially stripped the toning there or else there was something there (like dried glue) that protected this area from toning. Interestingly, the star and letters ARTE contained within this region are toned like the rest of the coin.

Looks like some sort of stain or foreign substance.
