Hey everyone! I found this 1992 DDO with a brown obverse and a relatively shiny reverse.

Given the extent of the doubling on the obverse, I'm wondering if the different colors on either could also be a mint error?

Would love to hear your thoughts - thanks in advance!

This is just a common 1992 zinc Lincoln with a very thin copper plating. There is a lot of PMD on the obverse on the head and the discoloration you are seeing is simply environmental damage/discoloration. Very common on Zinc Lincolns. Not a mint error.

I suspected the coloration difference was probably environmental damage, thank you for confirming that.

It is still a DDO, though, right?

I'm not seeing a doubled die obverse. I do see flattening of detail(s) and a heavy hit on Abe's head.

Closer-in photos of areas you are seeing doubling would help.

The letters looked pretty doubled to me, here are some closer pics with a coin microscope -

Not a doubled die, sorry. The devices are flattened from either a worn out die and/or just circulation flattening and damage.

Use the search bar to browse through other conversations of doubled dies. Even on the threads about other coins that aren't doubled dies, you'll still learn about what to look for.
