Just wondering how bold does a clash have to be to be collectible?

Obvious to the layman with the naked eye and requires no magnification to see it at arm's length. And at that they sell for quite little.

If your only interested in value then of course the more pronounced the better .

Myself I collect them when I find them even if it takes a little magnification to see them clearly .

There are really two schools of thought on collectablity of anything , one person collects based on value another because the item is interesting to them .

I have a fairly extensive collection of lincolns most of which have a very small monitary value ,I would not even consider minimizing that collection to only include the coins which have a high premium value .

I feel the same about the anomolous coins if I find it interesting I collect it , clearly labeled as to what it is on the coin I found interesting enough to make me want to keep it .

To collect or not to collect is always up to the individual. I have a few oddities that I have kept not because of there currant value. It's because I like the looks of them. And when it comes to pricing any type of error coin or regular coin it comes down to what YOU are willing to pay for it. Not to many coins are sold for what the 10 different price guides say they should be sold for. There are quite a few that don't pay to much attention to any coin value books. (e-bay,shopping channels, ect) So with that said keep all interesting coins and sell them at what you want too. And if someone wants it bad enough they will buy it. Shoot I sold a 1978 LMC for a $1.00 It's kinda like gas, groceries, ect one store has it for one price and the other is off the chart but people still shop both stores. IMO we shouldn't tell anyone how much there coin is worth on this forum. I sold a quarter for $50 and I was told it not worth more then $10. We simply cannot put a price tag on a item that is a collectible

A lot of the validity in online auction sources has to do with the education level of the people buying. If they don't know what they are bidding on and how common it is, they are very likely to pay far more than they should for just about anything. Just because someone buys a coin worth $10 for $50 once does not make the coin worth $50.

silver list price is $10.50 oz but people will not sell it for that. It's all about demand and not price guides. Lincolns are in demand thus are not selling for any list price. The Same demand was with my State Quarter I sold for $50 What I'm just trying to say is popular coins can sell for a higher price then what is listed and finding someones interest in a certain variety of a error is all it takes to sell a worthless coin for a profit. I may like to collect die cracks and might pay more then a cent to purchase it from someone. I see people one here buying current coins(trying to find P or D mints)costing them a lot for shipping. That's spending
more then face or book value also.
