Found this one today. There is enough space between the A and M to make me do a double take. I think it is from excessive die wear. Since the 1955 DDO has a "Poor Mans DDO" I thought I would list this as a "Poor Mans WAM". Write it up as Very Rare, float it on the Bay, put an outrageous price on it and see if I could get a Sucker to take the bait. Nah, I already can't sleep tonight. If I did that I wouldn't be able to sleep for months.

Yeah, looks like loss of detail due to either die wear or polishing as that FG looks like a Close AM reverse. Nice example for future reference.

There are only two choices. The mint only created two designs. As bats mentioned, the polishing of the fields removes the wider parts of the devices. Thus widening that space between the two two devices. But the location choices are centered or to the left for the 'M' between the AME area. No amount of polishing will ever move the'M' to the center. So it will always be a close'AM'.
