If Using Coin Folders What Are Usually.

youngmaster Valued Member United States 245 Posts	Posted 04/11/2021 4:44 pm I bought some coin folders and then thought it was good for keeping them safe but then learned about certain holders being bad for coins and so I thought id ask what is things to avoid buying for keeping your coins in pristine condition. T-BOP Rest in Peace United States 18456 Posts	Posted 04/11/2021 6:06 pm Good question for New coin collectors . The main thing to avoid is PVC which can run havoc on your coins . Some flips, and multi pocket plastic sheets for loose leaf folders contain PVC . As far as coin folders goes , most new collectors start with them but eventually realize that they are unable to view the reverse of their coins . That's when they seek out coin albums , yes a lot more expensive than folders But you'll wish you started with them in the first place .There are many safe ways to store your coins that are available in todays market ; Like cardboard 2x2's plastic tubes for rolls, stay-tight plastic 2x2 holders , etc. To keep coins in pristine condition is not as easy as you may think . But the main culprit for coins is Humidity ,extreme heat & cold ,damp environments . Just keep your coins in a tight holder in a cool dry place away from harmful elements and you'll be fine for quite a few years and more . Report this Post to the Staff

If you want them pristine, put them in capsules like these https://www.lighthouse.us/collect-c...d-snaplocks/ or get them slabbed by PCGS or NGC. Anything less risks scratching, dents, or other damage from accidents (but even capsules and slabs can't mitigate that 100%). Report this Post to the Staff
