I managed to get these of the Standing Liberty without the stars under the tail feathers. It's not in as good of condition as I thought but some of the wording is still legible and it's clear that there was no room for the stars below the tail. When I mentioned this under my Washington quarters post someone asked me to post pictures and said that there were other things to look for. I'm not sure if this is in good enough shape for anyone to tell me anything about it or not.

that was me!
you have a 1917S here. the mint mark is a giveaway, only 1917 coins have a mint mark and the reverse hub without stars. the big payoff is with philadelphia quarters, where a 1917 is worth its weight in silver while a 1916 is worth a whole lot more.

I couldnt even see the mint mark until I got the picture and managed to blow it up! I figured it was an S but it still looks like a 5 to me!

Ok according to the 2009 Red Book it has this coin at a G4 worth about $30 but this one doesn't seem to even be in that good of condition with the year completely gone. I have atleast $12-$15 worth of Standing Liberties, later years, that are also missing their date and pretty well worn so are they worth more then meltdown value?

dateless standing liberties are generally worth only melt value. dateless quarters with mint marks sometimes have a slight premium above melt, type 1 (without stars) are gradable without a date, and will get up to a FR2 grade, but that only helps a little. you might get 1 1/2 times melt for those, with the exception of a 1916, where ive seen dateless pieces get up to $300-400.

Littleboy - How can you tell a dateless 1916 from a dateless 1917-P Variety One?

There are slight variations in the dies, especially around the hair and hand.
