I bet the mint was scrambling to see who was on the presses that day... but hey, these things sell for enough that maybe it's worth losing the job. Who knows

Totally made "error" cool? Yep, Worth $50K or more? Time will tell. Not to me, but it's a neat error for sure.
My favorite error I've seen that was real and not intentional, was at the Denver mint on an insiders tour of the mint floor and behind the scenes, it was being used by the then director of the Mint as an office paper weight and conversation piece, it can and will never leave the building. A jam on the cent die press occurred one afternoon but not on the feeder ramp so coins continued on their way to the die stamping, making a stack of brockaged, flip over, multiple struck, multiple planchets, cracked planchets, mashed together mess of metal about the size of half a Pringle chips can wide and tall maybe 50-100+ coins all fused together in an odd cup shape. The entire mess of coins had to be removed, along with the dies and separated off the machine, both dies were toast we were told as were a couple of dies next to the main ones. Too bad I didn't have my camera with me, this was way before smartphone days. I've often looked around online to see if a photo was ever posted, haven't seen one yet. Coolest unintentional error I've ever seen with my own eyes.

LOL! I love the coins and the setup of the slab! It fits the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" proverb as it features Ike's eye on one dime, ear on the second and his mouth on the third.
Kind of like "I didn't see these coins struck, I didn't hear it happen, so I'm not going to tell anyone about it!"
How many other fantastic "error" coins are out there just waiting to be discovered?

'Assisted' mint error - I have no doubts.
It would have to be a clandestine concoction made by Mint employees.
As far as legality is concerned, I do have doubts, and I am at a bit of a loss to explain why the sale was legal.
Because of this, the risk remains that the Mint may? compulsorily reclaim these deliberate errors, so that they can be destroyed.

That is intentional not an error or a variety either. Just my humble opinion , heck of a retirement plan thought.

Frankly, I think this deliberate falsification is a disservice to the hobby, and that professional certification only encourages further crap like this. There is no numismatic value here in any way.

Coinfrog, I can agree with that. While it's fun to see things like this, the magic in errors and varieties is that they weren't meant to happen. Someone taking advantage of position or opportunity like this isn't what it's about.
