Hello All,

I'm trying to find information on any "Trial Strike Planchets" in 1964. I found this coin and it seemed odd weighing in at 2.855g. It doesn't look pleasing but it stood out among the pile.

Thanks in advance!

Guessing this is just a normal coin. Looks like it might have been buried for a time and lost some weight due to corrosive soil conditions.

Well that is not one of them. The trial/low pressure strikes do not have a date on them:
They look like the lower coin on this image:

Note the rims don't form as the strike doesn't get that far with out the pressure strike.

What is the weight of your coin? (normal is 3.11 grams for that year) If under weight, it may have been a dipped in acid issue with your coin. Probably just a face value coin.

That scenario, or even an acid bath at one time?
