Hello Forum

I have a 1973-S from an uncirculated mint set the has a die crack running SW to NW from edge of coin into the "N" in One on the reverse of the coin. There are also errors on the letters in "UNITED" & "AMERICA" that I was hoping you could help shed some light on.

I did check both Vista & Wexler sites and there are no DDR's listed.

As always thank you for the input!

Well looking at this die, it looks like an EDS die. Note how fresh the devices and how the fields look. That is enough to save this coin in itself. I feel the other issues are not die cracks, but small struck through items. On a die crack (which usually happens to older die states) the area in question on the 'N' on ONE, it looks more like a struck through on that area. If so, it will be incuse, not raised. (possibly cello that was in the sealed envelope) The altered areas on UNITED, I feel is coin contact from another coin affecting that area. But other than that it is a keeper because of the die state. These only happen on a few coins per die:

Probably in the 6% of the run area. This happens a lot less and most don't recognize this. Often, they assume it is a doubled die, because they look so good. But you found yourself a great coin.
