Defective 1947 D penny. Lincoln's facial features and creases on the coat are missing, plain and flat (not due to wear and tear, but due to defect in manufacturing, IMO). "L" on Liberty is on the rim. On the back, "T" on CENT is crooked, "ES" from the States are missing, 4th quadrant of the rear of the coin is elevated and can be felt by passing a finger over the area, the bottom area is depressed and lower than the rest of the coin.

Some folks call these "dryer coins," where they've been tumbled to become almost featureless. Think sea glass for an easy-to-understand analogy.

A " Greaser" (grease on die when struck) would not look quite the same, IMO.
