Hi,

This coin looks good at first sight but then I've noticed what looks like flow of metal in the rim. (meaning hot metal; casting.)
I'd love to ear your opinions.
Thanks.

It looks pretty similar to other examples I've found online. Can you show us the edge? Cast fakes will often show a seam.

This does appear to be a rarer date. If there's a market for them, I imagine there could be fakes.

Nothing stands out as "cast" to me, I would recommend comparing it to photos of genuine examples of the same date just to be sure. Amazing strike btw, I've seen and owned a few of these and this has to be one of the most well struck examples I've seen.

Thanks.

I am struggling to explain that 'flow of hot metal' on the edge. Can't see it as a normal thing on a struck piece of copper... It strikes me as something that only melted metal could have done!
Many thanks for your answers!

I do have coins like that, and many others similar; none of them, regardless of condition, have nothing like that... none of the edges have that "flow"...
