What you are seeing is die wear. It affects just the devices that are closer to the devices. Thus the tops of some devices were affected. The DDR looks more like this:
1935-Buffalo-Nickel-DDR?
1935-Buffalo-Nickel-DDR?
On the buffalo face you can see two eyes, two brows and two horns.
