This is a class vi DDR and I have done overlays with all four of the examples on VV and cannot correlate this DDR with any of them. The MM appears to be SE of both ddr1 & ddr3 while it appears to be just S of both ddr2 & ddr4.

Two other items of note: it has master die doubling known to be on 1938's [yellow arrow] and it looks to have a minor split serif on the bottom and extra thickness on the top serif [white arrows].

Extra thickness on EPU, not much thickness on the O of ONE and the wheat stems seem to have a bit of added thickness.

Does anyone recognize this variety?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Well it is a RPM, but probably a minor one. Did you check doubleddie.com, Variety Vista and Coppercoins.com? Each of these sites have different RPMs than the other. The first one listed will have the most, the last one, a few less and the Variety Vista site will only have the strongest RPMs listed. So keep it safe for now. With the condition it is in, it maybe listed by one or more of the sites in the future. I don't think the mark on the bottom of the '8' id anything. It could be a die scratch or die polishing? But not a DDO. Not many listed that year, so they sites might be interested or not, if they feel it is too minor. But the condition of the coin may help it to get listed? Nice find. Keep it safe. I save all RPM, even if they are not listed. Who knows, someday they maybe. (Or not, I would not want to kick myself later for not saving them)

Looks like Stage D of DDR-002 to me (has a different obverse than the earlier stage). It even has the clear doubling under the 8. Makes no mention of a RPM but this definitely would have been too minor for Wiles.

Good eye and thanks Tanman2001. I do believe that is the correct attribution. I did not realize that the obverse was changed late and that was the difference.

Found a recent thread with the same die and stage and was able to match some markers with mine. Though TB did not mention an RPM either.
