Off center. By definition all off centers are broad struck as the collar is not engaged.

Collar is not disengaged completely, otherwise you would not get a raised lip on one side. Same goes for the "ball cap" style off-centres. Part of the planchet in your coin is resting on the collar die.

Yours is struck off-centre, with a partial collar. A broadstruck coin would be completely flat, like this.

1980 seems to be a common year for these.

Cheers, Bill

You are correct Hounddog, in fact, CCF's own member 'Scissel' has a cool collection of 1980 off centre coins, in directions 'around the clock' and once put it all together in an animated GIF file.

Yup, an off-centre broadstrike. And, a beauty at that!! Most of the Vicky errors known like this are 1858 and 1859, what date is yours?

My heavens, Scott! I've known you for how long and this is the first time I've seen this! Love it! When I first looked at it, I thought that it might also be a DP#5, from the 9.
