Please let me know if I should be posting in a different forum. I'm sure to embarrass myself.
I have this bracelet with old coin pendants. I'm trying to determine (1) are these real old coins? , and if so, (2) age/origin/currency?
I'll try to post one coin at a time.
Bracelet #1, Coin #1 (Zeus)
Based on my web investigation, the best I can come up with is the coin is Zeus seated with head of Hercules on the opposite site. Which would indicate (possibly) a 1 tetradrachm from 300 BC to 201 BC. Would LOVE for someone to enlighten and correct me.
I believe the coin bracelet was acquired in Kabul, Afghanistan in late 1950s or early 1960s.

Well, you're correct about the seated figure being Zeus. However, the obverse is not Herakles.

Your coin is referencing Hermaios of Baktria, I believe. That would likely be him on the front of the coin. The obverse lettering is Greek, the reverse is Kharosthi. It may very well be a modern cast fake, however.

@kona, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please add to this thread a pic of the edge of this piece? Thx.

Bob is correct as to the ID. This is kind of a strange coin to copy but non the less IMO it is not a genuine example. I however would like the see a picture of the edge of the coin, which would help to say for sure.

Thanks all. Awesome info. I will post side shot tomorrow with some coin measurements.
Also...it might help to see the other coins on same bracelet. I will post each coin separately.
Given the other coins have non-Greek and non-Roman lettering (looks Persian, Arabic), should I continue to use this forum or a different one?
I'll call this Bracelet #1, coin #1 (Zeus).

The cut-off date for this subforum is 1600 AD so please don't post modern coins here, but we are happy to move threads around if it ends up that they belong elsewhere.

I uploaded side shots of coin to original post, including shots with measurements using a mm caliper.

Unfortunately,
looks like a tourist copy in base metal that has been silver plated, wiped with hard black wax, buffed and then presented as a cheap jewelry item.
