A 2006 Lincoln Cent with what looks like damage of some sort to the ear. Any ideas?

i don't think its post mint damage because it would have removed part of the copper layer on this coin. I'm guessing it is a polished die.

The line was on the planchet prior to the strike. This has something to do with how the copper adhered to the zinc. It's not really an error, although somewhat curious. It is not post-mint damage.
