Really weird that Coinfrog always seem so indignant when he has to grade from photos that are hard to make out detail from, so I took a further step to try to make the pictures a little easier to make out. Not surprised that now he needs the original pictures. Like I've send earlier my friend, you should seek some professional help.

WADR, why even bother posting these until we can look at in hand pics? Best anyone can do is a guesstimate, probably no better than you're capable of handling.

Grading from pictures on the internet is an essential skill. You don't always have 100% information and that's the way life is. If you can't give a grade, then don't, and wait for when the in-hand pictures arrive, Don't understand why that's a big deal. No one is forcing you to give a grade.  |

I think you missed the point NS. Yes, grading from pics is a great skill to have, not arguing that. My point being, no matter how good one is at grading from pics, it's next to impossible to accurately judge surfaces with pics like these. Yes, we can get close, but there can be a lot hiding.
My point being..... why not just wait until you receive the actual coin to post pics in hand, without the horrible seller pics.

Because, as you said, grading from pics is a great skill to have. So why not practice it? I made a purchase decision based on those pics and maybe others and certainly I want to see, not just the pictures of the coin I received, but the pictures of the coin that I based my purchase decision on. It helps me track, along with this community, how I'm doing in spotting clues and finding a good coin even with bad pictures. Really have a hard time understanding why it bothers people that I post the pictures that caused me to buy a coin. Edited by numismatic student

Fair enough.
Basing on these, I'm at a tentative VF25/30 with the possibility of it being Details if that's a rim hit on the reverse at K11. For the most common date quarter, would be a pass for me. I'll keep my $35.

I'm with him that grading from the unaltered is easier, especially in this case. However, am not okay with Frog, who I know to be an extremely kind person, being disrespected in that fashion. If you wanted to edit them to make them easier to view, this is what they should have looked like. This took less than 5 minutes.   |

I personally appreciate the grading threads that start out with seller's photos. I make a lot of purchases myself with photos that are subpar, bidding conservatively is very easy and you can score some nice coins this way. It's fun to be able to test your estimation skills based off subpar pictures. http://goccf.com/t/323374This coin, for example, had one single picture from about 5 feet away, unfortunately I don't have it saved but I'm sure you can imagine. From pictures so bad I could only discern a small amount of detail that made me believe it was XF or better. Obviously it came in way better than I even hoped for $33. Maybe in the future NS, always post the original seller's photos, and include your attempt at manipulating them below them. Edited by Adam_E
