Numisma Pillar of the Community United States 4963 Posts	Posted 05/05/2021 4:04 pm Nickels are 3/4 copper, 1/4 nickel. My best guess is that it was corroded by something that preferentially affected the nickel, leaving copper-enriched metal. Report this Post to the Staff
