Quote: Spending $15,000.00 plus on coins just isn't in MY budget !.......I'm jealous my friend ! Who said it was going to be $1.5 each?! I hope not!! That's why I'm getting one on the first day! wow... selling a Krugerrand locally is pretty hard... the dealer's offer is too low and people who do offer never reply... :(

Well the 1oz. Gold Buffalo's were selling for $1,050.00 plus Shipping/handling......so I just rounded THAT up to $1,100.00. Then, I figuered that the Mint, being their usual "capitolistic" self, would have this special coin FAR AND ABOVE whatever the gold price is upon release, as per usual and naturally of course.....plus being a "proof" coin on top of that to get EVEN MORE MONEY.......I just supposed a price of $1,500.00 apiece for the proof St. Gaudens. Indeed, I hope my guess is WAY high though....... I would not be shocked to see the Mint selling them for $1,350.00 though......lets see what gold does and when they actually release them for sale too, which will be later than sooner I bet. That would be the cheaper route I'm sure.....

I didn't mean to say I was going to break Silver Lincoln Dollars out and put them in rolls, if they come in rolls I'll get rolls, otherwise I'll get 10 proofs.
As to the gold, I spoke yesterday to a dealer who feels that "This is one that will go up in value, people have been waiting for this one for 100 years"

Nope.....I dont think so. That's not something the Mint would do for you. And as far as I know, the Mint does NOT differentiate between "First Strike" and those that are pressed afterwords. Coin selling companies WILL do that however! The first few minted will be the "DCam" quality, but all will be proofs. Companies selling the label "First Strike" and "Early Release" are just getting your money in my opinion. I could very well get a "First Strike" or "Early Release" just simply by ordering from the Mint directly. That's judged by quality and timing. And "First Strikes" can happen all through the 500,000 mintage limit every time they change to a new die.
