1916 One Penny "Shadow Image Outline" of King George V on
seated Victory. 1) Is this an Error? 1a) If so, what it is called?

Thank You for Looking.

Thank You everyone for your INPUT. I came across this coin and usually I ignore "errors". This appeared to have "shadow" or "ghosting"...technical term Progressive Indirect Die Transfer (PIDT is Not an error). Thx again

This looks like progressive indirect die transfer (PIDT). As the dies wear, the force they impart on the planchet is transferred through the planchet to the other die. A "ghost" image eventually appears as the dies approach the end of their lives. It's just a die event rather than an error, but still a cool example.

Also known as "ghosting", not considered an error.

Indeed! But that is a very impressive example of PIDT - worth putting in a 2x2.
