To my way of thinking: contrived exonumia. Mints around the World are increasingly falling to the temptation to produce product that is obviously not of a numismatic nature.
Maybe a new class of non numismatic collectors could be forming, but I don't think so.
Maybe I'm too old fashioned but there are too many things being released which are essentially trinkets. I'm really not that interested in things that stray too much past the melt value of silver. It does become exonumia in my mid despite being issued by a government. Maybe this is just the future of things to come.
For example, would I want the minion coin or the equivalent cost in silver Britannias? I'll take the almost 5 Britannias.
