i found a coin and I cant find an exact likeness of it in the internet. the engraved year says 1879 but I found a similar design that has 1878 in it. all the designs I saw for the year 1879 is different from my coin. I attached the same picture of what I saw in the internet. remember that the only difference of that coin from my coin is the year. the details, including the engravings and design are exactly the same. pls help me! thanks in advance.

It's a copy of an early American pattern coin. If you look on the reverse, it has "COPY" stamped on it below the weight in grams.

i forgot to mention that it has no copy stamped into it, unlike the one in the picture. I think this is not a copy but I am not sure. I attached a photo of my coin here for further reference.

Can't tell much from your pics.
Can you take others.
Also was the date 1879 on your coin?

From your second pics, I can just make out "Goloid", which refers to a US "metric" pattern dollar--an attempt at parity to other currencies. To comment on your coin, we would need much larger pics.

Greetings and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, from the evidence, pictures/information provided it doesn't look good. Probably counterfeit.

Take Care

yeah, it says 1879 in the date. all of the design I saw point to it being issued in 1878 but mine has 1879 engraved into it. I hate to think that this may be counterfeit because it look really old and worn out. I may just keep this as a memento until someone can tell me that this is indeed valuable and rare. thanks to all of you for the info and hope to keep up with you guys! this site is real cool.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the passing of time is not going to make this coin any less fake- it is one of the numerous Asian counterfeits that have flooded the market. The looks of it are irrelevant, counterfeits can easily be artificially aged. Counterfeiters are not happy just counterfeiting actual coins anymore, they have turned to pattern coins and fantasy issues(real designs with impossible dates or mint marks).
