So I kind of get the difference between Proof and Cam, but I don't really understand Dcam. On a raw coin that's not been slabbed, is it sort of like judging figure skating? One judge thinks the performance was an 8.5 and another sees it as a 10? Is that the difference between Cam and Dcam, the eye of the beholder?

CAM,DCAM,UCAM, is different levels of cameo effect. Has something to do with being able to read a ruler for depth. Milestone coming up, contest time

Yes, it is a matter of degree and personal judgement by the grader.

refers to the depth of a PL field and has nothing to do with cameo contrast.

If we use online sites like ebay, any raw proof is 'DCAM'

But overall, with CAM and DCAM for raw coins, it's a lot about how deep a person judges the mirrors to be. Same can be said for graded coins too though. Like numerical coin grading, though we try to add general standards, it's subjective

But Cameo contrast between the devices and the field, and depth of mirrors in the fields in theory should NOT be related. Cameo refers to the contrast between the devices and the field and could be possible to have strong contrast with NO mirrors. Or you can have super deep mirrors and NO cameo.
