I received this 1880 Indian Head penny in a lot I purchased earlier this year. I was pleased that the lot had a 140+ yr old coin within the small lot. I have seen this die crack error online but not to this extent. It has been sitting in my ? book since I found it. I'm wondering if anyone has knowledge or information on Indian Head penny errors. The crack starts around 5:30 o'clock in the 0 in the date,1880, and runs to around 1 o'clock at OF in USOA.
Thanks

Thanks for your reply coinfrog. It may be corrosion. I have seen a crack that lines up with my original thought of a crack with the rim crack but it was not as messy looking tbh. After 140plus years I'm sure it has been around. If it could only tell its own story. Thanks again.

Possibly a buried coin at one point.

My last image on this coin. It almost looks as the face and headdress are shifted forward. Thanks

Clearer photos would help. I can't distinguish cracks in this type of image. If you can try too turn on macro mode or something like it.
