Hello, everyone, just a word of introduction. I've been a coin collector for over 50 years, though it's only become a serious passion in the past 20 years or so. The main areas I focus on are U.S. Type (both coins and currency) as well as the classic silver and gold commemorative series. I've made use of the information available in this forum for years, and decided it's finally time to join in the fun instead of just being a lurker! I look forward to being a member.

Are you excited about the elimination of the coin/bullion tax? Who do you recommend as coin stores in Hot Springs?

Quote: Are you excited about the elimination of the coin/bullion tax? Who do you recommend as coin stores in Hot Springs? Very excited! This will be so beneficial to the dealers and collectors in the state. Arkansas is my childhood home, and just a couple years ago my wife and I moved back after my retirement. Because of the 9% sales tax in Hot Springs, I've not really done a lot of business yet with the local coin dealers, other than at the annual Hot Springs Coin Show, so couldn't give any informed recommendations right now.

Welcome from a fellow Arkansan!
I returned long before retirement.
Six months of winter per year up north froze my tail feathers off!

Quote: Six months of winter per year up north froze my tail feathers off! Opposite for me - more than 3/4 of my career was spent in Houston, and having 8 or 9 months of heat and humidity every year was just too much! At least in central Arkansas there are 4 seasons and the winters and summers aren't too bad. Well, this past winter was a bit crazy, but it was an anomaly...

Hokiefan,
I lived and worked for a while between Chicago and Milwaukee.
The sky got pretty when it got cold enough for the air to liquify!
I don't have the same income as I did working for a large multinational corporation up there, but I can enjoy the outdoors more. I wish I had revisited my coin collection while I was living in a more populous area, though.
Arkie, FYI: I PM'd you with one recommendation. My own copy of the email was in my Junk folder.

Great fun for a kid, not so much for any adults having to deal with it! My interest in collecting coins began while I lived there...

That's funny how close we were geographically, though not temporally. I worked in Waukegan, on the shore of the lake, and lived just north of there. I passed over the ravines that inspired some of the local geography descriptions in Ray Bradbury's novels. I was just too blamed busy for coins. I got to experience the Chicago Snowmageddon of 2011. That was wild.
