I would like to share one of my favourites with you guys.
This is a Turkish commemorative coin. 4th of the Endangered Wildlife serie-which started in 1995 and the 8th coin was minted in 2002. There are three snowdrop flowers (lat. : Galanthus elwesii) on the reverse. This coin is my first silver (with high purity) 1996 Mint 31.47 gr (app. 1 oz) .925 Silver
So those flowers are endangered? Are they particularly hard to grow in a green house from seed, or is it a case of where these flowers grow the enviroment is being destroyed?
these flowers are quite common actually. But there are ten kinds of this flower in Turkey and the environment that the flowers grow is being destroyed.
I guess that's why they are on the "endangered wildlife" serie.
A very nice coin indeed.I love these little flowers when they get through the snow announcing that the spring is near. The presentation is very good on the coin.
