Is this doubling? (especially on the '9') I posted two somewhat zoomed out pics of 'Liberty' and 'Trust' to get your take on some of the letters, and there's a (die clash?) on Lincoln's forehead. I don't think I'm seeing an extra eyelid. Thanks for your input...

I don't see anything abnormal either.

I think the issue is that readers here in the Errors section start looking hard and their own coins and begin seeing slightly questionable letters or numbers. Then being unsure what a true error coin looks like, they present it here with hopes someone will identify which error their coin has, and they'll be rich!

What's hard to understand is that errors on coins are not common, they are very rare. Not every coin is an error coin. Not every box of coins from the bank has errors. You could look at a million coins and not find an error coin, or you could open a bank roll and find several. The number one way to learn how to spot an error coin is to study how coins are made. Learn the minting process, learn how a perfect coin should look and you'll then be able to spot a coin that is "off," a genuine error coin!

It's ok to continue to ask us here about unusual things you spot, but just remember, error coins are not common, they are very rare. What is even more unlikely is that your coin will have multiple errors on it. Take your time and study coins. Read back through older postings here within CCF. Look at photos, learn what a certain error looks like and what it doesn't look like, and with time, you'll develop an understanding. Finding error coins are not easy, but with time, it can be fun!

Bonne chance!

I've spent more hours on researching this game than you realize and made a baseless assumption about me to look good on this site. You look petty. Don't lump me in with the many new members I see posting normal looking coins asking to strike it rich. Thanks, Merclover, I won't be posting much of anything anymore for fear of reprisal from the moral police.

She's just trying to help, Bogie. It is incredibly unlikely to find a DDO and die clash on the same coin.

I see no DDO. Forehead looks like PMD to me,I don't know if an overlay would help or not. merclover has given good recommendations.

There are some events that happen on certain years of coins:

These adjustments were made on the master hub to enhance a swelling, weakening of the design between the out outlines on the bust areas. As the master hub continued to age, it continued swelling just making two master dies per year. So the master hub was enhanced a bit to advoid creating a new, new master hub. (I used to news to designate, that each year the master hub was created adding the last to digits to the date. So to create a new, new master hub was a separate step that took more time, as it was transferred off the copy. See upper part of this image:

A new master hub had to be recreated from the Galvino through that channel. On other years, the master hub without the last two digits, was all that was created. So to avoid this they only created the master hub the reduced digits of 19.. add the last two digits.) SO I refer to this as a New, new master hub. (My term, I'm sure others refer to it as a different term?)

My apologies for overreacting, @Merclover. I had had a rough day and didn't take your reply as I should have. Thank you for the input, you're right - my eyes are indeed starting to go cross likely seeing things that aren't there.

Thanks for all the replies, and Coop for the in depth response that I'm still rereading...
