Quote: I even got that weird 1982 Proof Set medal And I thought I was an odd-ball for putting that in my SBA collection! I bought the 1982 proof set from the mint, so I had to do something with it when I broke it apart! Quote: I would def break Mr. 09 S V.D.B. out and put him amongst his friends. Let him hang out with his friends!

I think we all do what other's would consider strange or odd in our collecting. But if it makes me or us happy, let's keep doing it!

neversuited1, if their older, lower graded friends need a new home I bet I could find one for them, lol.
This is the type of set I hope to have someday as well, but right now I am trying to get as nice as possible for my pre 1934 and AU-MS for everything after. The main issue I keep having is where to stop upgrading the newer coins and concentrate on the older ones because I can always find a nicer coin for a few bucks versus hundreds. My wife knows my love for the collecting but we have come to an agreement on the key dates and that is I either need to trade for them, find the deal of a lifetime or wait until the kids are on their own. So if I go by that that, the third option is the most realistic and I should be able start looking at them in about 15 years (ouch).

lol...penny_pincher. I am always trying to upgrade as well. If I come across something I like (a key or semi) I will post here before I put it on my ebay store.

Just keep working on her, in a few years you'll have free rein with coins. At least, that's what I did to my wife. I wore her down into submission! LOL Eventually, they get tired of complaining about time and cost....then they only use it against you when they're mad and it's strategic!

Thad, Good advise to someone like me who is engaged to be married in the spring. I keep telling her that we have set the date, but the year is to be determined

Nah, as long as it doesn't get out of hand, I wouldnt think it will interupt anything :) Besides, the need to buy coins never really goes away does it? Just gotta say "you married me as a collector, deal with it" :)

Congrats Neversuited. Buy that 1909-S VDB before they go up in price again. I just finished my Dansco by purchasing in slabs a 1914-D in VF-30 and a 1909-S VDB in AU-53. They are still in the slabs. I have plugged the holes with a 1914 and a 1909 VDB. I can't yet bring myself to crack them out considering the cost, but someday I might.

My wife knew what she was getting into and fully accepts it. The problem is women marry men hoping they will change, while men marry women hoping they will never change. It seldom works out that way!

Nice to look at this. The 1914D over a 1914S is an anomoly. Ne4ed to get the S in there ASAP.
