this 1859 penny weights 4.40G. its very thin. here is and image. any thoughts greatly appreciated.

It's normal.
It is not a penny it is a cent.
Worth about half a penny in 1859.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

That is normal. The 1858 & 59 large cents were made using 1/3 thinner planchets than the Brit 1/2 pennies they were made to be similar to.The Canadian cents would be 1" in diameter and weigh 4.54 grams and made of bronze rather than pure copper. 12 of the Cents paled in a line would be 1 foot and 100 of them would be a pound. Your large cent is normal and placed alongside a Cent from 1876 on..
