I got ahold of this 1905 Indian Head cent. Trying to figure out if this is come corrosion or something else. Not sure what these reflective surfaces are. Just trying to figure out what I'm seeing here.

Something is "on" the coin like glue or nail polish of shellac?

Whatever it is seems to gently rub off with slight pressure. Just put my fingernail on one spot and very gently moved it and it came right off. It probably is nail polish or some kind of glue.

Try soaking it in acetone.

Acetone doesn't damage coins?

Edit: I just looked up some posts on cleaning and acetone. I may end up trying that, but I'm ok with leaving it be as is for now.
