I guess my point...we have to be a little careful with the RB designation. Another example:

I'll chime in. This is a good example why you buy the coin not the slab. I do not like any of those to be honest.

To be honest, that's one thing which turns me off on Lincolns. Slabs are not air-tight. What grades RD today, and you pay a premium for, will very likely turn browner in the slab over time. I'm guessing all the coins pictured here have done so, because PCGS is far pickier than that about what they call RD.

Yep, that is why I do not pay premium prices for RD coppers. They can turn in the slab and suddenly you have a RB coin, typically with not-so-good eye appeal I prefer nice RBs and I will take the extra money I save on those vs full RD and buy more coins

I agree 100% with the comments by SuperDave and biokemist6 except this doesn't turn me off to Lincolns.

One thing to note is that PCGS has a lifetime guarantee on their grades and that includes color. If the color changes to RB or BN from a higher cost RD or even from RB to BN, PCGS will pay the difference in retail cost to the current owner of the slab.

NGC's guarantee is for 10 years only. I will not buy an NGC certified Lincoln unless it's already BN.

biokemist6 makes an excellent point also; RBs and BNs are available at significant discounts from full RDs and RBs and BNs have a charm all their own!
