Hello, New to coin collecting and have purchased a 1866 Shield nickel with rays. My father has digital microscope and while looking at it noticed date appears to have double die under magnification. It is not visible without the microscope. Looking for some help from the community and really appreciate it!

There are a number of DDO's for the 1866 Shield Nik w/Rays.
Check NGC's site and see if you can correctly attribute it...

Doubling on the date would not be the result of a doubled die. The die was created, and the the date was punched in later. So it is possible to have a doubled die with no doubling in the date, or a doubled date with no dubling in the die, or even a doubled dies with a doubled date that has no relationship in the doubling between the two.
