I think this might be the very first 1980s DDO I've found!

Luckily I was looking through several 1989 cents when this coin popped out.

I am very excited to have found such a coin! Probably my best CRHing variety found on this trip!

Not a match:

But it might be a different die number.
Try Coppercoins 1989D-1DO-002?

See if the markers are present?
Or die 003

My quick test with an envelope, shows these two the same. But the quick test is not always accurate?
None is a match. Coppercoins had three different and they were all different than yours. The 003 was the closest:

Locations and angles were slightly different.

I agree with Coop. Mintmark location is too low, not DDO-001. But definitely a Class VI DDO, nice find!

Ah the MM position

I got so excited that I forgot to check that.

This is a bit tricky. There doesn't seem to be a perfect match for either die. I'm leaning towards 1DO-002 because it seems like there might be a little die scratch where a die marker is present, but it's so minor that it could be my eyes playing tricks on me. Besides that, no die markers are visible.

This cent is fairly fresh, so it is possible that the die markers might not be present.

I'd say 1DO-002, but I'm not even close to being 100% sure, it could also be an unlisted one.

EDIT: Thank you Tanman! Even if it isn't the big ol DDO-001, it's still a DDO Class VI as you mentioned

Wexler list just one and it doesn't match to the other two sites. But image is so distorted, I can't use that for side by sides. But see if any markers match:

Quote:

1989-D 1˘ WDDO-001
Description: A spread towards the center shows on the date. A notch shows on the bottom left of the 1.
Die Markers: Obverse: A die scratch runs north from the top right Y in LIBERTY. Light parallel die scratches run from NNW to SSE to the left of the date. A small die gouge can be found near the bottom right point of the bust. Reverse: A short, diagonal die gouge can be found on the roof above the 7th Memorial bay.
Cross References: Crawford: CDDO-002

Check markers to see if anything matches. It also looks close.

Just checked your edit Coop.

That's what I thought, none of the ones I saw were perfect matches. Mine seems to be tilted to the right a little bit more.

Looks like by process of elimination, it's unlisted. Thank you very much for the help.

EDIT: I took a look at Wexler's previously and honestly couldn't tell. After looking for the die markers and coming up empty handed, I think it's fair to say that it isn't a match, at least, not with those images.
