I bought a roll of nickels from work today and almost, almost had a fit. I was also eager for closing time to come post this. I found this in the roll. I weighed it to make sure it wasn't someone trying to pull a fast one, but it weighs 4.9g, so it's still the correct weight.
I got the best pics I could and will get more when I get my new set up Thursday.

I think it's just a damaged coin. It may have been ground down on purpose or may be a Dryer Coin. Sorry, not an error.

The scratches you see look to be from an orbital sander.
just enough material (about .1g - could be more if the coin originally was a few grams over the normal weight) was taken off to deface the obverse of this coin.

grease does not cause discoloration so this is probably PMD
