I did some research on this coin/error myself and I'm a little confused. Is this a doubled die, rpm, deterioration die or A, B, or C varieties or nothing more than a '74s cent? Is the bottom serif split on this coin? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You're going to have to get a bit closer to the mintmark, as it's difficult to tell from your photos. It looks like the S suffers from circulation flattening, but a closer photo might tell us more.

If you look at the rest of the coin you will understand it is a damage PMD mint mark. Sorry it is not an error or variety.

I wonder what's going on with the bottom curve of the 'S'? Looks like some raised metal between the lower serif and the middle section of the S.

Thank you for the greeting Dearborn. You and I were thinking along the same lines on this one. If it were dinged or had post mint damage it is likely the damage would be recessed and not raised.

That and up top. I don't think this is damage.
