I have a silver tone coin dated 1913 that has the indian head and eagle of a 1913 gold half eagle coin. It has only 10 stars and the word Germany on the indian side. Anyone have any clues or information about this coin? It claims to be a $5 coin on the eagle side, also. This was given to my grandmother in ww2 by a US GI stationed in the united kingdom. We are curious for more information and can't seem to find answers anywhere. Thanks!

It Sounds like a normal $5 with a weird coloration and a counterstamp of the word Germany, and the wrong number of stars. We do love a good picture now and again.

Sounds like a simple counterfeit made out of silver but the counterstamp (if that's what it is) is kinda weird.

Sounds to me more like a German-made piece of play money. Lauer of Nuremberg was making all kinds of imitation coins up to the beginning of WWI.
I agree with the sentiment.
