. I just checked all three reference sites we all use and none of them list a D/S that year. Your coin looks more like damage to me.

I'm thinking post strike damage--given the photos posted. Copper is a relatively 'soft' metal and hits can move features around. A much closer and sharp photo of the mint mark might be useful. Thanks.

We really need a larger, closer sharp photo to be able to effectively help you. It's just too small as is.

looks like the outer curve of the 'D' took a hit and smashing it down, making it appear to be the curve of an 'S'
