I am thinking about hunting through bills.ci am wondering what errors to look for? What denomination to hunt? Wheat did my biggest chance to find a red seal? What expenses come with this? What volume do I hunt? Just the general questions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Your expenses will be your time and effort to make it to the bank. The volume you hunt is completely dependent on the capital you have to acquire the notes from the bank. Look for gutter folds, offset printings, mismatched serial numbers, ink smears, solid stars, misaligned prints, missing prints and many other imperfections. I recommend buying Fred Bart's Error guide to help you distinguish the severity of the errors you find.

It would be irresponsible of me not to mention the 2013 B Star Note Error Dr. Frederick Bart will be including in his 5th Edition Book of United States Currency Errors, as "Production Errors with Duplicated Serial Numbers" Since your asking. There is a thread about them here.

Was that Shameless of me?

But the best advice was SteveInTampa's referral to the Error book, to choose what catches your attention. Choose something that you feel drawn to!!
Have Fun!!

I'll be looking for matched pairs too. That's one of the only things I knew.

When you look through a bunch of bills for fancies don't forget to pull out any birthday notes MMDDYYYY. You can really make someone's day if you match their friends or relatives.
