I bought/ordered a 2008 Silver Proof from the Mint in December. I got my confirmation via email. However, my credit card has not been charged nor have I received the set. Should I be nervous or is this customary?

Did you check to see if has been back-ordered? I am still waiting for my 2008 Silver Eagle and it will not ship until 01-30-09.

The website is not showing them as backordered and they are still available. I would recommend calling the number(1-800-USA-MINT) and having them run your confirmation number to check on the order. When I have ordered from the Mint in the past, I was not billed on a CC until the order was filled.

For those that ordered proof sets this year, how long was it between order acceptance and order arrival?

I also ordered some half dollar rolls the other night. I wonder how long that will take? I'm not complaining...just concerned.

Odd you should bring that up. I almost forgot about the charge for my sets. Way, way back I ordered my usual many sets of proofs and uncirc sets for Christmas presents. At Christmas I did my usual and gave away about 10 of each plus a Red Book. Today I just got my credit card statement with the charge on it for those. I would think it's been at least 3 months since I ordered them. ODD!
Maybe the Mint doesn't need money.

I checked the website and searched on my order number and it just says "in process". I guess I'll wait a little longer and see.

Well.....look at the mess the country is in right now.......the Mint is just following suit with that !....
Next year/this year the U.S. Mint will have to ask for 22 Billion or else they'll go bankrupt too !......

I ordered my 2008 silver proof set on 12/29 and got a notice that their shipping it on 1/08. I think that is fair.

The last time I ordered from the mint, my credit card was charged right away, yet my order didn't ship for another 2 weeks.

Below is what I see on the Order Status page of the US Mint. I've called and they say the same thing. "Your order request is in process". I'm not complaining, I'm more concerned that there's a problem and I'm going to get snookered out of my "stuff".

Additional fun facts. I called the mint and finally got a human on the phone. I very sweet and helpful young woman named Siobhan. She found that I had two accounts. One from a previous address and the second from my new address. She combined them into one. Got all my contact number, etc. correctly entered. Verified my order. Turns out that orders after the 26th or so of December are being processed in Indiana. Previous to that they were processed out of Tennesee. So, it seems Indiana is moving a little slower than Tennesee. But, I feel better knowing that they see my order and it's in process.
